Position Summary:

The Development Associate role provides general administrative support to the SOS Development Team, which includes the VP of Development, Senior Manager of Individual Giving, Senior Manager of Organizational Giving, and Corporate & Communications Manager. This position will report directly to the Senior Manager of Individual Giving to maintain systems including data entry and database management; provide support for SOS events, including managing grassroot activation events; and oversee a portfolio of donors, including managing tracking and stewardship. This role is responsible for grassroots fundraising and awareness opportunities across locations.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Maintain Donation Systems:

• Input all incoming donations in our online donor platform and contact database
• Write and send thank you notes and tax donation receipts to all donors within 48 hours of donation
• Complete weekly reconciliations of all incoming individual donations for accounting purposes
• Update Development Plan tracking documents on a monthly basis and pull necessary reports from database to ensure team is tracking with established success metrics
• Provide administrative support during giving campaigns including printing letters, addressing and filling envelopes, and maintaining systematized lists of donor types

Event Activation:

• Research new opportunities for regional event activation and proactively outreach to organizations to request SOS Outreach as event beneficiary, including receipt of monetary donations and development of community awareness
• Solicit corporate event sponsorships from all primary locations for signature and regional events
• Attend and represent at events to support event activation and grow awareness of SOS Outreach and our mission and impacts
• Maintain database of product donations available for grassroots awareness activities and event use in all locations
• Proactively identify community recognition opportunities and contribute to local communications about regional events, in collaboration with the Communications Manager
• Assist the Individual Giving & Events Manager in logistical support and event planning for established signature events

Portfolio Management:

• Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Individual Giving, manage a portfolio of up to 500 national individual donors contributing $0-$500 annually
• Consistent stewardship of individual donors to include, but not limited to, written communications, periodic organizational updates, personalized invitations, and in person meetings
• Research prospective donors and creative avenues for additional revenue

Team Contributions:

• Work with Individual Giving & Events Manager to create agreed upon, reasonable success metrics. Weekly check ins will review progress
• Actively contribute to team conversations and seek additional opportunities for organizational improvement and success
• Work seamlessly with Program staff members across regions to provide necessary support for staff to be successful in local fundraising efforts
• Maintain a positive attitude and commitment to the mission of SOS Outreach

• Collaborative approach and willingness to work in a team environment
• Proven ability to efficiently manage many tasks at once
• Availability to travel to regional SOS locations
• Experience, comfort, and/or passion in working with youth from diverse backgrounds

Other Job Duties

• Contribute to the overall management of the organization to successfully achieve the SOS Outreach mission. Maintain and develop knowledge of the community needs & resources. Develop best practices to achieve strategic priorities, efficiency, and successful time management.  Represent SOS Outreach in the larger community. At times, support other development and program functions.

Physical Aspects of the Job

This position requires the ability to: travel within the service area (including mountain regions); sit at a desk for extended periods of times using the computer, telephone, and e-mail systems; lift 50 pounds; lead meetings & speak in public.

Compensation

This is a full-time, salaried position. Salary is  $39,000-$43,000. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short and long term disability, paid holidays, paid time off, paid sick leave, Pro Deals, and a season pass to the Vail Resorts Inc Mountains.
