Program Manager Overview
The enrichment site and operations manager reports to the National Program Director and will be an integral component of the program and national teams to fulfill SOS Outreach’s mission and vision. This role will simultaneously hold an overall understanding of programming while supporting the finer details of daily program operations. The enrichment site coordinator will be responsible for the support and overall management of our nine enrichment site program leads across the country, ensuring onboarding, resource distribution, workflow management, and end of season closeout. The role will also provide regular check-ins to ensure program leads feel supported and part of the larger SOS community. Enrichment sites are: Portland, OR; Yakima, WA; Seattle, WA; Leadville, CO; Steamboat, CO; Durango, CO; Detroit, MI; Chicago, IL; and Minneapolis, MN. Additionally, the Enrichment Site/Operations Manager will be charged with logistical and operations support for SOS’ six year-round locations as detailed below. Lastly, this role will oversee SOS’ Alumni Liaison, ensuring that alumni are fully integrated into all aspects of SOS programming.

Contribute to the overall management of the organization to successfully achieve the SOS Outreach mission. Maintain knowledge of organization needs and resources and of youth work and outdoor education best practices. Support and assist development staff in non-program functions, including development, fundraising, marketing, and community outreach.

Develop and maintain a diverse workforce. Manage in ways that maximize the potential of all workers by assuring sensitive and respectful treatment by and toward all employees and volunteers. Ensure that services are delivered with cultural sensitivity and competence. Create and maintain a work climate that is inclusive and free of bias.

Minimum Education and Experience

A combined minimum of three years of experience in the following: program development, management, implementation; or administration; youth development & engagement; and/or outdoor education. Comparable experience in terms of time and background in similar fields and education/degrees will be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The ideal candidate should be organized and independent, able to effectively manage and direct a dynamic team and capable of big-picture thinking while simultaneously paying attention to detail. Candidates must be willing to take on a variety of tasks: from cataloging program equipment inventory to scheduling volunteers to implementing the core value curriculum to supervising a diverse team. The candidate should have experience seeing projects and programs through to completion and evaluation.

This is a full-time salaried position. Salary is $46,000-$47,500. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short and long term disability, paid holidays, paid time off, paid sick leave, Pro Deals, and a season pass to the Vail Resorts Inc. (VRI) mountains.

This position is targeted to start August 15 2022 and may be located in any SOS office in the following locations: Portland, OR; Yakima, WA; Seattle, WA; Leadville, CO; Detroit, MI; Chicago, IL; Eagle County, CO; Denver, CO; Summit County, CO; and Park City/Salt Lake City, UT.  The position is structured around a Monday-Friday work schedule - with many evening and weekend commitments (especially throughout the fall and winter seasons).
